Rev. Karen Ballard begins the morning with a difficult truth: life is full of trouble. Karen invites us to an honest assessment of the difficulties of the last year and encourages us to process all the emotions that go along with these experiences through the spiritual practice of lamentation.
"Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God. "
Rev. Karen Ballard describes the cyclical relationship between lamenting and praising God. She asks us to get honest with God (and others!) about "the hot mess we actually are" and to ask God for help with issues big and small instead of pridefully trying to go at it alone. Karen reminds us to respond in trust and praise, acknowledging God's goodness and faithfulness.

Pastor Gary Pope-Sears presents a message of healing, inviting us to leave behind our broken lives and "come to the well" of new life. He asks us to consider the strategies that we use (healthy or otherwise!) to feel fulfilled and welcomes us to seek Jesus to satisfy our souls. Using the often told story of The Woman at the Well and Blind Bartimaeus, Gary reminds us that Jesus seeks out the marginalized, wounded, and rejected, loving us "nonetheless."
